Mediocre Minds

I have quite a few heroes that I look up to. For me these people provide invaluable guidance, wisdom and perspective. To name a few Ronald “Dutch” Reagan, Marget “The Iron Lady” Thatcher, Winston Churchill, George “Blood and Guts” Patton, Nicola Tesla, Thomas Sowell, Walter E. Williams and at least a dozen others.

These are people who knew what was right and never allowed themselves to be swayed by what “felt” good or was popular at the time. These are people who pursued what was right no matter the cost to themselves or their “image.” These hardy souls often paid a hefty price for choosing wisely and doing the right thing over the popular or convenient thing.

I wonder sometimes if these were the kinds of people one of my budding hero’s ( I haven’t officially added him but he is on my short list ) Albert Einstein, was talking about when he said, “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

This is amply demonstrated today. Everywhere one looks today, the mediocre minds are running the place. In the media, schools and colleges, large corporations, entertainment industry and especially in the government the mediocre minds cling desperately to both their power and their ideals of progressive liberalism and political correctness. If you don’t believe me, try straying from the official party line in any of these “special interest groups” and see what happens to you. I have and I can tell you it isn’t pleasant.

Members of the TEA Party are called racist for simply asking the government to do what most of us do on a daily basis, don’t spend more than you earn. And how dare those “teabaggers” think they should keep more of what they earn. After all, certain people are “entitled” to the possessions of others. You know, the welfare part of the constitution.

Parents of school shooting victims (speaking from a place of pain I know but still choosing to be wrong ) thinking that further burdening law abiding gun owners will prevent criminals from perpetrating evil. This despite the fact their children were murdered in “gun free zones.” I mean really, if a law was going to work then….hello, is this thing on?

Homosexuals believing their deviant lifestyle should be a civil right. I don’t know about you but I am tired of being lectured on tolerance and civility by people who believe that if a boy hasn’t had sex with a man by age eight (NAMBLA) he is “ruined.” Or, when a young male student reports having sex with a male teacher the counselor ( little Barry’s Safe School Czar nominee ), instead of reporting the incident as required by law, advises the student to be sure and use a condom next time. These are the same people who believe shoving their arms up someone’s rectum is a normal behavior. It’s not normal, it has never been normal and if you think it is, you’re not normal. And for the record I don’t think there is anything wrong with normal.

Teachers who think teaching children the fiction of man made global warming, politically correct speech codes and “white privilege” is more important than reading, writing, arithmetic or critical thinking skills. Then there is their near religious devotion to a demonstrably false narrative that “more money” equals better education. And don’t get me started on the garbage they call history now days. The term “revisionist history” is too polite for that trash. The simple fact is that most college graduates today could not pass the 1860 6th grade graduation test. In my opinion that, along with their slavish devotion to environmental make believe, makes many educators vastly overpaid given the product they turn out.

Religion of peace apologists. Any “faith” that teaches that ones highest religious duty is experience “martyrdom”, that a women who has been raped must be killed for having unlawful sex, that one must convert or kill all non believers, provides husbands with instructions on how to beat their wives or demands that apostates must be killed, is no faith. It’s called a cult and in this case it is a cult that relishes abuse, death and destruction. And no, I am not labeling Islam, I am accurately describing it. Deal with it.

Amnesty proponents. If you really believe that those who broke the law to get here and stay here deserve free housing, education, healthcare etc, then break out YOUR wallet to pay for it. I am already working two jobs to keep skippy on his “entitled” welfare benefits. And no, this attitude does not make me a racist. It makes me one of those silly people who think I should be able to keep what is mine. Get over it.

Finally, due to time constraints, let me mention the angry atheists. I have never understood the deep-seated hatred they have toward God fearing people. What exactly is it about the Ten Commandments that scares them so? And why do they have to hide behind so much hate? And yet no atheist I know of pursues Muslims they way they do Christians. Why is that? And for the record there is no founding document that proclaims a separation of church and state, only a prohibition of establishing a state religion. If the mediocre minds would make the effort to actually read our founding documents, well lets be honest, they wouldn’t like what they read. I can hear them asking, “But, isn’t it unconstitutional to have God in the Constitution?”

So, now, according to the media, most popular culture icons (I am proud to admit I don’t think I know who any of them are), most college graduates as well as nearly all the leaders in high government positions, I am a religious, gun owning, racist anti immigration teabagger.

To paraphrase one of my heroes, “There they go again.”

The Deafening Silence of Little Barry And His Hallelujah Chorus

On May 31st Marine Corps Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi was on his way to dinner with friends in San Ysidro, California. Having moved to San Diego only days earlier and having yet to find an apartment he had virtually everything he owned in his car with him. Everything included three legally owned and registered firearms.

Driving at night in unfamiliar territory Tahmooressi missed his intended exit. To complicate things the sign warning of the last U-turn before the Mexican border is small, blue and unlit. San Ysidro, being less that two miles from the border Tahmooressi soon found himself at the border.

According to the Associated Press, who was able to talk briefly with the decorated veteran, he thought that he would be able to explain to Mexican authorities that he wanted to turn around when he reached the border. His 911 call made shortly after he crossed the border seems to confirm his intentions.

The Mexican police had other ideas. They quickly surrounded Tahmooressi and sent him to one of the most dangerous prisons in the country, La Mesa Penitentiary. In an effort to seemingly ensure Tahmooressi would be brutalized they placed him in with the general prison population.

Not long afterwards Tahmooressi was threatened with rape and death by torture. Rather than trust his fate to prison guards more often than not paid for and controlled by the drug cartels, Tahmooressi escaped. Sadly, before he could make it to the border he was recaptured.

Prison officials then placed him in solitary confinement and chained his hands and feet to his bed for over thirty days. Tahmooressi was then sent to a maximum security facility forty miles outside of Tijuana. He is looking at serving up to 21 years in a Mexican prison for accidentally carrying his legally owned and registered firearms across the border.

The silence from this administration about the plight of this hero is deafening. Seriously, what have you heard more about recently, Sgt. Tahmooressi or Barry’s golf game? The torture of Sgt. Tahmooressi or the imagined effects of climate change? What does the lying political hack Jay Carney talk about, Sgt. Tahmooressi or the apparent fact that Barry doesn’t know anything going on in his administration until he learns about it in the Hallelujah Chorus ie, mainstream media.

Perhaps if Tahmooressi were black little Barry might be concerned enough to actually mention what had happened. Perhaps if Tahmooressi was like one of the Mexican murders, rapists, pedophiles and armed robbers he recently allowed ICE to release from U. S. custody he could be bothered to pay some slight attention. If there were some way to blame Bush there can be no doubt little Barry would be all over this but, sadly, the good Sgt. had the cards stacked against him. You see he is a veteran and we all now know exactly what little Barry thinks of veterans. Then there was the fact that he was a gun owner. That is simply unconscionable in the tiny, ideologically driven mind of little Barry. Nope, Barry will sacrifice this brave man and not lose a wink of sleep over it.

Little Barry is not alone however in his abandoning of an American hero. Glen Beck made a great observation. “You’d think,” he said “the same type of people who complain and file lawsuits when terrorists are forced to listen to loud music at [Guantanamo] would be outraged that one of our own has been chained to his bed for a month!” No Glen, they are not. Those intellectual pygmies cannot see past the fact that he was a member of the military and a gun owner. In their empty little politically correct minds he deserves everything he gets.

A final question. Where is Barry’s Hallelujah Chorus on this. What happened to “if it bleeds it leads” journalism? Why has no member of the media asked what, if anything has been done to get our wounded warrior home? Why has this outrage been given virtually no media coverage? Where is the so-called Republican leadership when one of hero’s is being tortured and unjustly imprisoned?

Sgt. Tahmooressi know that this veteran will not forget you. What about you America?

B5 A Warning From The Past

I am a longtime fan of B-5. I have the entire series on DVD and have watched it over and over. One of the things that drew me so deeply into the show was just how well developed the personal relationships were. Over and over they demonstrate their dedication to the concepts of trust, loyalty and devotion. The command staff of B-5 are the truest friends of the highest order. They are the kind of friends we would all give our eyeteeth to have and few of us have the courage to be.

I recently re-watched seasons two and three Babylon Five. As I journeyed through the many travails and adventures of my television friends I couldn’t help feel a strong but familiar undercurrent. It was as if this was frighteningly all too familiar.

Not familiar in the sense that I had watched the shows before, as I have many times but familiar in a more visceral sense. It wasn’t just that I could understand the problems and emotions my TV friends were experiencing in an intellectual sense. It all seemed to strike a previously unknown and powerfully resonating chord within me. Then I realized all the travails of the B5 command staff seem to be happening in real time today. (I especially remember the scene where the shop owner is being intimidated because he is protesting the president.) That realization suddenly made perfect sense of that vague, unsettling feeling that had been with me as I watched. It was as if back in the nineties when the show was filmed, we were being given a preview of what was to happen in the political/social arena today.

As I thought about the concept numerous parallels jumped out at me in mere moments. As I continued to delve into the similarities I realized that these parallels existed not just at the surface but often times in layer upon layer.

Instead of President Clark think Barrack Obama.
Is being willingly used by an unseen power (Soros, Muslim Brotherhood). Assumed and maintains his power deviously (outright lies about nearly everything, voter fraud). Ignores the laws that interfere with his agenda (instructing ICE not to enforce deportation laws). Like President Clark, seeking to create his own police force (admitted to in a speech). Surrounded himself with un-elected advisors (Czars) to avoid dealing with elected representatives. Changes laws and policy through executive fiat rather than the legislative process (countless executive orders and signing statements). Will only use the legislative process when the outcome is assured. Does not tolerate dissent in any form (IRS targeting/NSA spying/data collection).

Instead of PSI Corp. think of the National Democratic Party.
Like being born a telepath, many people are “born” Democrat, accepting the party dogma without question (The corps is mother, the corps is father/democrats care for the little guy). Maintaining at the request of the president, files on all who dissent. Serving as a platform for routine character assassination of any who question the party, its goals, activities or its leaders. Actively promoting the election of “pliable” candidates to any and all elective offices. Helping to indoctrinate the young and old alike. PSI Corps has its own school system, the DNC has the American public and higher education system.

Instead of Ministry of Peace/Night Watch think Department of Justice/NSA.
Secretly spying on peoples phone calls/emails/ friends lists and encouraging citizens to spy and report on each other. Setting up hotlines for people to call such as in Arizona. Practicing selective enforcement of the law in the extreme. Initiating and enforcing speech and thought codes. Intimidating dissenters with actual and threatened lawsuits, regulations, search and seizure and “enforcement” actions, in the name of “protecting the public” from the “evil” right wing and tea partiers (alien influences in B5 parlance).

Instead of the Shadows think militant Islam.
Seeking world domination. Denying their existence/agenda to a large extent in public while admitting it, in part, to their allies. Working in secret with top leadership who, while also denying their existence, seeks to foster the Islamist goals in the misguided belief that they will somehow profit/gain from the process.

Instead of the Ministry of Truth think mainstream media.
Dedicated to propagandizing the public through the spread of lies of omission and commission, distortions and misinformation. Its main goal is the shaping of opinion and the revision of history in line with the Democratic parties agenda.

Instead of ISN think CNN/MSNBC.
No longer an objective news source but claims vehemently to be one. Dedicated to the “official” news of the day. Its new primary function is to rationalize the Presidents agenda for public consumption.

Instead of “36 Hours” (ISN News) think “60 Minutes”, “Frontline” or” 20/20”.
A cleverly disguised attempt to shape public opinion on specific current events/topics using misinformation, dis-information and outright propaganda.

Instead of PSI Cop Bestor think Eric Holder.
Never tells the whole truth. Tries to play both sides against the middle. Willing to sacrifice anyone to further his agenda. Can anyone say Agents Terry and Zapatia? Plays the “race” card the way Bestor plays the “teep” card. Always protects himself no matter the cost.

It must be stated here that if you watch the series it is important that you start from the beginning. While each individual show stands on its own it is also part of a much larger story line. This means that there are often references to things that will not make sense if the shows are watched out of order or in isolation. There are doubtless other similarities and when I have some time I am going to watch the show again with an eye for them.

I just hope I am ready for the chills that will run down my spine.
