It’s been clear to me for awhile that ordinary, decent, law abiding, hardworking, tax paying Americans are afraid. They are afraid of many things. Inflation. Not being able to make ends meet. Sexualization of children at school and public libraries. The open invasion of America at the southern border. The militant intolerance of the Gaystapo. The national debt and the collapsing of the dollar. Crumbling infrastructure. The twin frauds of global warming and transgenderism. Voter fraud and ballot manipulation. The artificial shortages of baby formula, gasoline and child pain relievers. Covid tyranny and sudden death if you got the jab. China buying up American farmland and the World Economic Forums great reset pushing, among other things, bugs to replace your burgers and registering for future confiscation all your fire arms.
Ordinary Americans are justifiably afraid of the alphabet government agencies that spy on them constantly and no longer serve them but considers them as cannon fodder for the agencies PC goals.
Ordinary Americans are afraid of the so called media labeling them as terrorists, extremists and right wing lunatics for not spouting the official line of the day.
Ordinary Americans are afraid of the social media consequences of pointing out for example, the sexual grooming of kids today virtually everywhere.
Ordinary Americans are afraid of the very real possibility of losing their jobs, careers, friendships and even family over pointing out any of the above.
I could go on but I think the picture is clear. Ordinary Americans have much to worry about.
The one thing the categories above share is that these fears are driven in large part by what I call the laptop loser. This is the individual whose only skill is parroting what they are told by CNN or the DNC. Xi/Xer/Xims only work related skill, even with that $90,000 degree in Gender Studies, most likely involves asking “you want fries with that?”
What many average, hardworking ordinary Americans do not understand is that not only are you not alone but you are the majority. We need to understand that virtually the entire media complex (including social media), most corporate boards, educators and educational institutions and a stunning majority of private charities, foundations and think tanks are operated, managed and ran by laptop losers.
The laptop loser has basically one skill set. Xi/Xer/Xim can whine, bully and threaten with the best of them. Intimidation, manipulation and obfuscation come almost naturally to them. On the other hand critical thinking is an exercise to far. They never had to do it in college. Few of them ever had a real job that would have forced them to experience even a modicum of reality. They live in a self imposed fantasy of their own imagination.
When dealing with a laptop loser remember, Xi/Xer/Xim is likely incapable of changing their mind based on rational evidence. They are far more comfortable in the realm of emotion. This doesn’t mean we do not engage them. It means we need to engage them carefully and mainly for the purpose of influencing those listening to the discussion.
A case in point. A family member of extreme liberal tendencies tried to convince me that Justice Kavanaugh was a rapist and didn’t belong on the Supreme Court. I allowed her to spout media talking points for several minutes until she ran out of steam. I then said, “I agree, no rapist should be allowed on the court. What exactly is your evidence against him?”
She was stunned because she believed her emotional rampage should have sufficed to disqualify him. After much fumbling she finally came to rest on the “fact” that her accuser had credibility.
“Okay,” I said. “Let me see if I understand your position. Your accuser claims she was raped but never reported it, can’t remember specifically when or where it happened and the two people she claims as witnesses both deny any knowledge. Is that the kind of evidence you would be comfortable with being used to put you in prison?” Because this is a family friendly piece I won’t repeat what she said next but we have not spoken since. I don’t worry about that because I believe any open minded people listening to the exchange will realize they should explore the charges further before drawing any conclusions. That is really all I was after, to get people to do their own homework with an open mind.
Another example was when a coworker tried to get me to support banning drilling in ANWAR Alaska. I asked her why she was so adamant in preventing the drilling. Her response was that the “evil oil companies would destroy the artic for profit.”
“All of it,” I asked?
You could see the uncertainty in her face as she realized she had no actual knowledge of what drilling in ANWAR entailed. “If there’s oil there they will destroy the environment to get it,” she said with certainty.
Realizing my goal was not to win an argument with someone incapable of dealing with facts I spoke indirectly to those listening to us. It helped that I knew she drove an expensive, gas guzzling SUV when I formulated my response. “Since you know how the oil companies work I’m sure you know then that if ANWAR was represented by a baseball field the amount of area needed to extract the oil would equal the size of an average laptop. I’m sure you know the oil companies have signed contracts to restore the land they use to it’s natural state when they have finished drilling. Do you still think that’s a terrible deal to get affordable gas?”
She accused me of having no idea what I was talking about and stormed off.
You see, we don’t have to paint them into a corner, they jump there willingly. We simply need to point out to anyone listening that our liberal opponents are in the corner.
Finally, never accept a false premise being offered. A classic example is teacher pay. We go through this every year in my state because of the teachers unions. More pay equals better outcome they promise year after year. Year after year they get their money yet the outcome for the kids never changes. I always ask these questions when teacher salary comes up. Can you name a peer reviewed study showing an increase in student performance tied to a teacher salary increase? (They can’t because there isn’t one) In New York City they spend around $100,000 per student so why do the New York school system students routinely under perform national averages? Why do so many spelling bee champions end up being home schoolers? Why do many private schools with nowhere near the public school budget routinely turn out much higher performing students?
Helpful hint. When your opposition devolves into name calling, which they often do, simply smile and say. “Thank you. I win.” If clarification is desired you can point out that if all they have to offer is name calling you win by default because if they actually had an argument they would have used it.
Whether it’s on social media or in person we need to point out the obvious. Honestly, forthrightly, politely and constantly. Always do so from a position of direct, informed knowledge. Also understand that you cannot change anyone’s mind for them, they must do so themselves. Be aware that if you engage with the hope of getting credit for changing peoples minds you will be surely disappointed. The more entrenched into a position someone is the less likely they can change their minds let alone credit someone with changing their worldview.
In any case remember, no one take flack unless they are over the target. Right now America, reason, honesty and decency all need us to be over the target.
