Meet The 800lb Duck

Who needs an 800lb gorilla when you have a duck dynasty? The “offense” mongers at GLAAD and companies like A&E and Cracker Barrel may very well be asking themselves that question today.

When Duck Dynasty family patriarch Phil, an openly devout Christian, answered a question on religion and sin his response should have surprised no one. Hundreds of millions of Christians, Jews and yes, even the Muslim “religion of peace”, hold a similar scriptural interpretation of homosexuality and sexual promiscuity.

What may have started out as a case of “gotcha” journalism almost instantly morphed into an opportunity for those looking to be offended to “be”, offended. Chief among the offended was homosexual promotion/indoctrination machine known as GLAAD.

GLAAD, doing what liberal groups always do, selectively edited the remarks to create something that “offended” them. To lend credence to their “outrage” they also had to deliberately ignore the context of Phil’s answer. They were only to aware of how the fellow travelers in the media would spin the story so GLAAD saw no risk in doing what they did. It worked, at first.

When GLAAD whined, A&E, the network that runs Phils show promptly suspended him for what they deemed as his insensitive remarks. Shortly there afterwards the restaurant chain Cracker Barrel pulled all its Duck Dynasty merchandise from its store shelves, apparently in support of GLAAD’s being offended. Twitter, for a short time, blocked access to an “I support Phil” account. The gay liberals, all 27 and 1/2 of them, were on a roll.

Then an unfamiliar concept began applying itself slowly but surely to the artificial construct created by GLAAD and their insipid followers. You and I understand this concept as reality. Having spent my entire life in reality the concept does not confuse me. A&E, Cracker Barrel and Twitter on the other hand have precious little experience in reality. They never saw it coming.

The politically correct class watched in stunned amazement as retail giant Wal-Mart sold out of Duck Dynasty merchandise almost overnight. Within days of A&E’s announcement millions of ordinary Americans, after offering blistering criticisms of the network, signed petitions to A&E to reinstate Phil. In the face of withering criticism Cracker Barrel not only restocked their Duck Dynasty merchandise but, in a rare case of corporate courage, actually apologized to their customers for having pulled it. Needless to say, I urge everyone to eat a meal at Cracker Barrel and let them know why you are there.

The Duck Dynasty flap is a small example of how the liberals and their thought police act and how ordinary people, living in the real world, must respond. Liberals, having corrupted the language and unable to argue anything factually resort to distortions and emotional appeals to “win” their arguments. Emotion, for liberals, is the iron ring in our noses with which they intend to lead us to their Promised Land.

Liberal run corporations are perfectly content to sacrifice our rights as long as their bottom line remains unaffected. In the war against liberals and their thought police, the consumers dollar speaks louder than any thing. We ordinary Americans just proved that and, I think its time we proved it some more.

Dumb People

My grandmother, whenever she would see someone do something really stupid, would say quietly “dumb people” and shake her head. Her combination of native German and 50 year east Texan accent made it a memorable catchphrase.

I just wanted to take a minute and vent a little bit because lately I have been seeing a lot of “dumb” people. They know who they are, and sadly so do I.

These are the geniuses that spend five years salary on a decorator SUV then speed on icy roads because they have 4-wheel drive.

These people, having never won anything, are the ones with a closet full of participation trophies that they believe entitles them to superstar status and consideration.

These are they who took to heart, and expect the rest of us to accept, that they are just as “special” as mommy always said they were.

My daughter just had twins so I have been making the hour drive to her house to help out as much as I can. This means I have spent a lot of time on the freeway lately. Now I don’t know about you but when I drive on the freeway I set my cruise control for 5 miles over the limit and call it good.

This, apparently, isn’t good enough for a lot of drivers. They feel the need to ride my bumper, flash their lights or brag about their single digit IQ with a free hand when I don’t move out of their way soon enough. I have finally decided that if you are one of those people I am no longer going to move over for you. Feel free to pass me because I will let you. Save your childish displays of immaturity for someone who cares.

Look, I am sorry you choose to manage your time so poorly that you must speed or is it simply that you choose to risk not only your life and well being but that of others. The way I figure it, I am already speeding and I will not go faster just to make you happy. Get over it.

Also, if you have blown past me and later I come upon you after you have crashed know this. If I see children in what’s left of your car I will stop to help them. I have 20 years of first aid and CPR training under my belt and a well-stocked first aid kit in my car. Help them I can and will. You however, will not be my priority. If I do not see any children, I like to think I would still stop and help but I cannot promise that. I will call 911 for you and report your accident and your speeding to be sure but otherwise you may very well be on your own.

Some will doubtless label me heartless or cruel. So be it. The way I figure it you made the choice to drive recklessly. You made the decision to speed. To be completely frank, I have little desire to risk my life, or the lives of anyone in my car, on a freeway full of speeding drivers to help someone who chooses to make bad decisions. As my grandparents and parents taught me, sometimes you simply have to lay in the bed you made.

Now, what is it about the gym that brings out the thoughtless in people? I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and it never fails to amaze me the dumb things I see. Seriously, it must take a special kind of person to lift weights in flip-flops or even feet with only socks.

And, why does anyone need their cell phone during a workout? I don’t mean the handful of people who are using the built in MP3 player. That I can understand. I am talking about the people sitting on a piece of equipment and talking or texting while those of us who are cell phone free wait for our turn. I have even seen people in the hot tub with their cell phone. If you are one of those I truly hope you don’t drop your cell phone in the hot tub while I am in it because I know I will not be able to contain my laughter.

Speaking of the hot tub, just what makes people think that coming out of the steam room or sauna and jumping in the hot tub or pool is cool? There is a shower conveniently located next to the hot tub that works perfectly well and rinsing off is not only polite but can be done in just a few seconds.

I know in ancient Rome famous gladiators used to sell their sweat to upper class Roman women. However, in all my time at the gym, I have yet to see anyone lining up to soak in your sweat. Sorry to burst your bubble there precious but, just saying.

Finally, I have a politically incorrect thought. Having observed the Kenyan little Barry for the last five years, am I the only one that believes he would define the perfect date as a full length mirror?

The Politics Of The Blind

My grandfather, when dealing with someone who was somehow able to ignore the massively obvious would often say, “No one is blinder than the man who will not see.” If he were alive today he would doubtlessly direct this sentiment at those who still blindly follow the Kenyan little Barry and his minions.

In the face of numerous unmitigated disasters this alleged president still has a legion of followers who not only will not “see” but, seek to punish anyone who does “see.” Consider the case of Norina Mooney, a 20-year employee of Santa Clara county, California.

It seems Mooney was overheard by a fellow employee who felt she was criticizing Obamacare. Mooney claims she was simply talking with another employee about how many people had lost their health insurance because of Obamacare.

In what should surprise no one (we are talking about California state government employees after all), Mooney says the office she works in is replete with pro Barry stuff. She said many of the office staff openly wore Barrys campaign oriented clothes during the Kenyans re-election bid.

Not long after the offending conversation Mooney was called into her supervisors office. Mooney says she was verbally disciplined because an unidentified person was offended by her Obamacare remarks. Mooney says the supervisor informed her that from now on if she has anything negative to say about Obamacare, or anything political to say, she must exit the building first.

Mooney has obtained legal counsel and I hope they can find an honest judge to hear the case. Were I king for a day both the supervisor and the offended party would be collecting unemployment, after writing Mooney letters of apology.

The sad part of this story is twofold. First the behavior of the supervisor does not seem to be all that uncommon. I have a supervisor of similar attitude myself. Second, and perhaps even more disturbing, very few people seem to be concerned about his sort of behavior. The supervisor in this story clearly feels that Mooneys first amendment freedoms are subject to the approval of others. Someone should have told the supervisor a long time ago that it simply does not work that way America. In third world cesspools run by tin-plated dictators yes but not here.

It may sound melodramatic but it is none the less true, tyranny starts this way. The people who seek to control you must first eliminate free and open speech. All one needs to do to prove my point is look at any of the so-called Ivy League College speech codes. These codes are sold as efforts to stop everything from thoughtless cruelty to bigotry and even hate. As if limiting speech ever stopped someone from being stupid.

What a speech code really is, is an egregious form of thought control. Liberals, unable to win virtually any argument on the facts, have to base their “arguments” on false premises. Speech codes are put in place, in part or in whole, to firm up the basis of and create the appearance of acceptability, of those false premises.

The other requirement for the success of tyranny is that, as the saying goes, good men do nothing. When we allow ourselves to be intimidated by what others might “think” about us, we have taken a huge first step towards servitude.

It is a step I suspect the Kenyan would deeply approve of.

Tidbits 4

What is it with liberals? They simply cannot stand anyone stepping out of their rigid boundaries. Take the case of 11-year-old Oregon resident Madison Root.

Young Ms. Root was scheduled to get braces. Being smarter, apparently, than the bureaucrats she would soon run afoul of, she knew the braces would be expensive. She told a local news station that “I felt like I could help my dad with the money.”  So one Saturday she gathered up some mistletoe from her uncles farm that she had cut and wrapped herself and headed off to the Portland Saturday Market.

A security guard hired by the market would not allow Ms. Root to sell her mistletoe, telling the young girl she could sell outside the venue or simply ask people for money. He was, he said, simply enforcing city code.

Unlike many of the entitlement-centered children of Ms. Roots age, she wanted to earn her money. “I don’t want to beg,” she said “I would rather work for something than beg.”

As further evidence of Ms. Roots good character, she simply could not understand why drug dealers were permitted in the market but she wasn’t. I confess I don’t understand either.

Ms. Root has learned first hand that liberals cannot tolerate any form of self-reliance. I think it is a lesson she will take to heart.

In the United States Navy the highest commendation we could earn was “well done.” Ms. Root, well done!

This next story surprised even me. It just goes to show these people are called animal rights whackos for a reason.

The Non Human Rights Project has filed suit in New York asking a judge to declare a 26-year-old chimpanzee named Tommy “a cognitively complex autonomous legal person with the fundamental right not to be imprisoned.”

I guess taking a farmers land from him because it rained and his land is now classified as “protected wetlands” because there may be some critters attracted to the water isn’t enough for whackos like this.

Let’s follow this through to its logical (if I can use that word here) conclusion. If Tommy is declared a person will he be granted the right to vote? Will he qualify for medicare/medicade, food stamps? What if he violates the law, does he go to prison or a zoo somewhere? Can he decide to marry a human female? A human male (in some states)? Suppose Tommy develops an affinity for firearms, can he own and use one? What about driving a car? Will he be allowed to go wherever he wants and do whatever he wants? He is after all a “legal” person in this scenario.

Then there are the really important issues to deal with. What if Tommy engages in discrimination? What if he perpetuates a ‘hate crime” or sexual harassment? How is the “system” going to deal with “cognitively complex autonomous legal person” Tommy?

I understand some will accuse me of using extreme examples. I would ask those people to think about the mindset that could conceive a chimp as a human equivalent. Once that threshold is crossed, the examples I listed may not be long in coming to pass.

As to the next complaint I am likely to hear, I have no problems enforcing animal cruelty laws. These laws are well intentioned and only the heartless would seek their removal or abandonment.

As for the animal rights whackos, “We’re just going to keep filing suits.” Lovely. The sad part of this is I can actually imagine the DNC chasing after the “cognitively complex autonomous legal person” vote.

Now a word about everyone’s favorite subject, Obamacare.

In testimony on capitol hill, “white hat” hacker David Kennedy who tests website security told congress about the Obamacare website, “When you develop a website, you develop it with security in mind. And that doesn’t appear to have happened this time.”

He continued the bad news by adding, “It’s really hard to go back and fix the security around it because security wasn’t built into it.”

He further dashed liberal hopes for proclaiming the virtues of the healthcare.com website with this chilling prediction, “We’re talking multiple months to over a year to at least address some (emphasis mine) of the critical to high exposures on the website itself.”

As a chief executive of TrustedSec, Mr. Kennedy knows of what he speaks. If this revelation does not frighten you it should. If you have already entered your information on the website, you should be very, very worried. Given the public revelations of the sites insecurities it is virtually guaranteed that hackers will be working overtime to steal your information.

The state run exchanges, according to Mr. Kennedy, are not much safer. The Vermont Health Connect website just recently confirmed a data breach. Identity thieves, if they have not done so already, are going to have a field day with your information and the Kenyan little Barry is doing essentially nothing to stop them. Thank you low information voters.

Finally, a tragedy that need not have happened.

Two years ago 33 year old Jesse Benavidas was at a birthday party. So was Santana Goana, who had recently been released from jail after allegedly raping and beating his estranged wife. While in jail he was identified as an illegal alien and scheduled for deportation. ICE officials canceled the deportation order because Mr. Goana was supposedly an informant for several federal agencies, including the FBI, who ordered the cancellation of Goanas deportation.

Jesse Benavidas and his eight-year-old son were at the same party as Goanas. When Jesse tried to stop a fight between Goanas and his estranged wife, Goanas pulled a gun and shot Jesse. Jesse’s son witnessed the shooting and has suffered from the trauma ever since.

Federal law enforcement officers, speaking on condition of anonymity (for obvious reasons) have told many reporters that the Kenyan little Barry’s administration makes it impossible for them to do their jobs. These officers believe that pro illegal immigration groups have more say about enforcing immigration laws than they do.

A department of Homeland Security official, again speaking on condition of anonymity, said “We’ve been kept away from rallies where illegal aliens are protesting U.S. laws – we’re not allowed to make arrests, deport criminals and the system is made to work against us.”
The official continued, “What happened to Jesse is a terrible crime but it happens every day because we are kept from doing our jobs to protect our citizens. Criminals seem to have more rights.”

The president of the ICE National Council, the union that represents over 7,500 officers and staff, Chris Crane, echoes the Homeland security officials sentiments. “The toughest thing for our guys is releasing felons, these child molesters and knowing these bad guys are back on the streets.”

He continued, “It’s the policy of this administration to make it as difficult as possible for our law enforcement officers to do their job. If the American public could see what we see, they would be out in the streets demanding enforcement and change, not immigration reform.”

If I were king for a day, Mr. Goanas would be entitled to only two things. To quote one of my heroes, John Wayne, “a fair trial and a decent hanging.”
