The Circular Firing Squad Rises Again

Charles Krauthammer, always presented as a conservative voice on the talking head shows he regularly appears on, recently opined in a piece titled “Sessions Lessons” on his concerns that Trump is “criminalizing” politics in America. To quote the once good Dr., “in America we don’t lock up political adversaries. They do that in Turkey. They do that (and worse) in Russia. Part of American greatness is that we don’t criminalize our politics.” Wow. I usually attribute that level of political observer irresponsibility to either outright demagoguery or willful blindness.

One would think that a trained psychiatrist would have more sense than to spout such nonsense. Alas, he has perpetrated this train of thought almost relentlessly since the election of President Trump. You would think that as a longtime political observer he, of all people, would understand that no matter how diligent his attacks on Trump are the leftists he apparently seeks to gain favor with will never accept him. Not even his “disability” will protect him from their long knives when he finally strays to far from their gospel. Anyone remember a Senator named Joe Lieberman?
Has he forgotten that Nixon gave the liberals the EPA? Wage and price controls? What happened to him?
Does he not remember that Bush Jr gave them the largest expansion of medicare in history? The TSA? Common Core? How did he fare with the liberal establishment?
Does he not remember the last eight years? How soon he seems to have forgotten how the Kenyan little Barry weaponized the IRS, the Justice Department, the NSA, CIA, FBI and a dozen other alphabet government agencies in his quest to fundamentally transform America into his version of a Soviet style Cuban dictatorship.
I have great respect for Charles intellectual ability which is why I was stunned to read such outright liberal propaganda from him. It is beyond curious that he would accord himself in such a manner knowing full well what his liberal audience will do to him eventually. Or perhaps he thinks, against the grain of liberal history, that he will find himself immune to their retributions?
It seems to me that he much prefers the Kenyans pen and phone to Trumps make America great again.
Donald Trump was never my candidate. While he has disappointed me on more than one occasion he has also given me much hope that it is not to late to save the country I love. Even now, as I prepare for the worst, I remain cautiously optimistic.
It was clear from the beginning that Charles was never going to accept anything but the “perfect” presidential candidate. Trump never claimed perfection. He only claimed to love America as much as those of us who voted for him. He only claimed that he would work as hard as we in flyover country do to rekindle the greatness that made America the light of the world. He only claimed that we the people were more important than the establishment, deep state traitors (my word not his) to America.
Charles has overcome much in his life and accomplished more than most people will ever dare to try. I respect that but seriously, Charles, it’s time to get out of the poisonous beltway and back into real America. You obviously have some catching up to do.
